The venue place is located at the north end of Kolimbari, close to the historic monastery of Gonia, at a magnificent place with unlimited view over the sea and the mountains. End of May, the temperature is about 25-28 ˚C and the sea water is warm enough for swimming. Do not forget to bring a jacket with you as nights may be cool in Crete this time of the year. The sea water is very clean and only a few steps down from the venue place.
Kolimbari
is a small town of 5000 people, about 20 km west of Chanea (Chania), at
a unique location, at the west end of the gulf of Chanea.
The time of the year is beneficial to explore Crete, the island where Zeus was born. Crete has unique antiquities and in addition it offers unlimited possibilities for recreational activities before and after the Conference at a relatively low cost.

The closest airport is Chanea at a distance of about 30 km east of Kolimbari. Kolimbari has a frequent bus connection to Chanea (each way costs about 3 Euro). In the spring and summer time, the Chanea airport has direct connections with many European cities.
*The Chanea airport is served by the Greek airlines Olympic Airlines and Aegean which have many flights per day between Athens and Chanea. If you chose one of these airlines to fly from a European city served by them, there is most likely a stopover in Athens. The flight from Athens to Chanea can be combined with the flight from abroad with a total cost slightly higher than the abroad flight.
Chanea is also connected with Athens (Piraeus) by ship. There are usually two or more ship connections per day with Piraeus. The ships from Piraeus reach the haven of Souda about 5 km from the city of Chanea.
The easiest way to reach the venue place from the Chanea airport or the haven of Souda is by taxi. It takes approximately 30 min and costs about 20-25 Euros.
